The blocks are resistant to freeze/thaw conditions likely to occur below the dpc and are therefore suitable for use in situations up to and including MX3.2 as defined in BS EN 1996-2: 2006, Annex A, Table A1 and its UK National Annex or A3 as defined in BS 5628-3 : 2005, Table 12, (ie where there is a high risk of saturation with freezing). The blocks are suitable for use in classes DS1, DS2 and DS3 of soil or groundwater as defined in BRE Special Digest 1 : 2005 Concrete in aggressive ground, Part C Assessing the aggressive chemical environment. In unusual soil and/or groundwater conditions, eg soils contaminated by industrial waste or highly acidic soils, expert advice should be obtained.
